Salt Clay Bowls

The twins and I had a great time making clay bowls. Their favorite part was kneading the dough. I have never tried to bake the clay before but it worked out quite well. We also made some beads that you'll probably see later. The possiblities are endless with this clay, and it's so easy to make. The recipe is below.
I just noticed that you can see Hassana's foot in this pic! (smile)

Salt Clay Recipe

1 cup flour
3/4 cup salt
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup cooking oil
Food coloring

What to do:
Place the flour, salt and oil in a mixing bowl and stir with a wooden spoon.
Combine water and food coloring then gradually add the colored water to the flour mixture.
When you have created things with the clay, you can bake them to harden the clay. Put the oven on low heat (300ºF/150ºC) and bake for 1-2 hours.

  3. No, we didn't eat them! They are made of mostly salt so, they probably don't taste so good. LOL
They are useable though. I would make them a little thinner next time so they dry out more evenly and throughly. Let me know how they turn out.
