Simple Machines and Sid the Science Kid

A couple weeks ago, Sid the Science Kid did a week's worth of shows on simple machines. The children loved it. So my husband brought home a woooden board and the experiments began. We created a lever and an inclined plane. We talked about how much force it takes to lift a heavy object vs a lighter one. We experimented with the speed of toy cars and trucks by changing the angle of the inclined plane. I was able to introduce and reinforce many vocabulary words like angle, fulcrum, force, and hypothesis. Most of all, we had so much fun.
